The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash in Taunton late Friday night as 26-year-old Selina Mendez.
Taunton Police and EMS responded to the area of 266 County St. at approximately 11:15 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a crash.
When officers arrived, they found a 2001 Honda Accord with heavy driver’s-side damage resting against a utility pole, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III.
Mendez, who was driving the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
As loved ones mourn her sudden loss, family members are remembering Selina as someone whose warmth and creativity left a lasting impact on everyone around her.
“Selina was so much more than family—she was the heart and soul of our lives,” a family member shared. “Her contagious laugh, bold spirit, and creative passion for art and tattooing touched everyone she met. Selina had a way of making everyone feel loved and valued, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.”
The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing. It is being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the Taunton Police Department.
