
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash in Taunton late Friday night as 26-year-old Selina Mendez.
Taunton Police and EMS responded to the area of 266 County St. at approximately 11:15 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a crash.
When officers arrived, they found a 2001 Honda Accord with heavy driver’s-side damage resting against a utility pole, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III.
Mendez, who was driving the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A 23-year-old female passenger was also in the car and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with the Taunton Police Department. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
