The South Coast Spotlight is being built as a reliable, no nonsense source for news and information across Fall River, New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Somerset, and Swansea. The goal is to provide honest reporting without all the extra noise, the clickbait and the over the top headlines. It will be just clear, straightforward news coverage of what’s actually going on in our communities.
We want to help people stay connected to what matters locally. That means keeping an eye on city and town decisions, following community developments, and telling the everyday stories that don’t always get attention but should.
This isn’t just about headlines and the idea is to create something the community can actually take part in. There’ll be space for local events, small business features, shared announcements, and reader submissions like letters to the editor and community feedback. If something is happening in our communities, it should have a place to be seen.
At the end of the day, this is about keeping people informed and bringing the community a little closer together.
The Fairhaven Guide and Fall River Guide Facebook pages have officially been rebranded as South Coast Spotlight and Fall River Spotlight.
Since taking over management at the end of December 2025, the growth has been pretty significant. Page reach jumped from around 500,000 to 3 million in January, climbed to 5.1 million in February, and has already passed 6.3 million in March.
This is a community-focused effort built to help local businesses get in front of new customers in a real, meaningful way. It’s about creating connections that actually matter, not just throwing ads out into the void.
Leo Monteiro brings over 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, and event promotion, working with close to 1,000 clients across Bristol County. He knows what works locally because he’s been part of that scene for a long time.
If you run a local business and want to get featured, just reach out. We’d love to connect.

At The South Coast Spotlight, we are proud to feature talented local photographers and artists who help tell the story of our communities through their work. Each city and town section of our website will showcase a featured artist along with a photo that captures the heart of that area, whether it’s a familiar landmark, a hidden gem, a waterfront sunset, or a moment of everyday life that makes that place feel like home.
Right now, we’re looking for inspiring images from across the SouthCoast, including New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Westport, Swansea, and Somerset. We would love to feature photos of iconic landmarks, scenic views, historic buildings, coastal scenes, downtown streets, and the little details that make each community unique.
