Jonathan Maynard, 52, who drowned July 9 at Charge Pond in Myles Standish State Forest, is being remembered by his family as a devoted father, proud grandfather and avid outdoorsman.
Plymouth Police responded to a report of a possible drowning shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Search crews located Maynard at about 3:45 p.m. in water measuring between 17 and 19 feet deep. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
As family members mourn his loss, Maynard’s son, Jordan, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and monthly household costs.
In a tribute posted on the fundraising page, Jordan described his father as someone who embraced life and treasured time with his loved ones.
“He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and someone who truly loved life,” Jordan Maynard wrote. “He found peace in the outdoors, whether he was hiking, fishing, or simply enjoying a walk in nature.”
Jordan said his father was a lifelong Boston Bruins and San Francisco 49ers fan who also enjoyed playing video games. Above all, he said, Maynard cherished spending time with his family.
