The Fall River Police Department responded to more calls for service in June than in May, with notable increases in fights, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents and reported break-ins, according to the department’s monthly activity report.

Officers responded to 4,189 calls for service in June, an 8.1% increase from the 3,876 calls handled in May. The figures exclude administrative calls and represent incidents to which officers were dispatched or responded on their own initiative.

Among the largest month-to-month increases, reports of fights jumped 60.3%, rising from 73 incidents in May to 117 in June. Medical calls increased 41.9%, from 186 to 264, while reported break-ins climbed 41.5%, from 41 to 58.

The department also recorded a 15.1% increase in motor vehicle accidents, with 404 crashes in June compared with 351 the previous month. Alarm calls rose 14.4%, larceny and shoplifting incidents increased 12.7%, mental health-related calls were up 11.3%, and fire calls increased 23.9%.

Despite the higher call volume, enforcement activity declined in several areas. Police made 398 arrests in June, down 7% from 428 in May. Warrant requests fell even more sharply, decreasing 26.4% from 72 to 53.

Domestic disturbance calls also saw a modest decline, dropping 5.6% from 250 in May to 236 in June.

The number of reported shootings remained unchanged, with three incidents recorded in both May and June.

For the first six months of 2026, the department has responded to 22,076 calls for service, averaging 3,679 calls per month.

Police have made 2,018 arrests through June, an average of 336 per month, while handling 2,253 motor vehicle accidents, or approximately 376 each month.

Other year-to-date totals include 1,363 domestic incidents, 1,221 medical calls, 1,110 alarm calls, 744 mental health-related calls, 693 larceny and shoplifting incidents, 432 fights, 271 fire calls, 234 reported break-ins, and 15 shootings.

The June report provides a snapshot of police activity and does not represent all calls received by the department. Administrative calls are excluded, and the figures reflect only incidents to which officers were dispatched or self-initiated.
