As colder weather approaches, local children and families experiencing housing instability are receiving a massive boost. Cradles to Crayons Massachusetts recently stepped up in a major way, sending three fully loaded trucks to the New Bedford Public Schools (NBPS) Family Welcome Center.
District staff rolled up their sleeves to offload the massive donation, which included hundreds of hygiene kits, outfit packs, socks, and more than 2,500 winter coats tailored for boys and girls in need.
The supplies are designated to assist students and youth covered under the McKinney-Vento Act (MKV), which provides vital support for children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
Cradles to Crayons has long been a steadfast partner to NBPS, donating thousands of backpacks, coats, and personal care items over the years to support students across greater New Bedford. District officials expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing partnership, ensuring that hundreds of local kids will head into the winter months warm, equipped, and supported.
