
Earlier today, Hazmat1, Engine 6, Ladder 1, Inspector 3, and Unit 2 (District Chief) responded to a residence on Purchase Street after workers discovered what appeared to be a military ordnance device.
Big shout out to New Bedford Fire Department New Bedford Police Department, New Bedford EMS, and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad worked together to secure the scene and safely remove the suspected artillery shell. The device was transported to a remote location and disposed of according to established procedures.
No injuries were reported, and there was no danger to the public once the area was secured.
This incident highlights the outstanding teamwork and professionalism of all agencies involved in keeping our community safe.
