For more than sixty years, The Star Drive-In at 205 Myricks Street in East Taunton has served up more than just great food—it has been a cornerstone of local memories. Whether it was a first job back in the 1980s, a quick stop for cheeseburgers and fries after a long bike ride, or a weekend family tradition enjoyed at an outdoor picnic table without a smartphone or tablet in sight, the beloved local landmark holds a special place in the community’s heart.

Now, owner Erika—who purchased the drive-in in 2016—is embarking on a major renovation project to repair structural wear and tear while carefully preserving the authentic, classic atmosphere that patrons have cherished for decades.

Rather than chasing a “retro kitschy” trend, the goal is to create a clean, timeless look that makes visitors feel like they have literally stepped back in time, complete with modern updates to the public restrooms.
To ensure the historic destination honors its roots, management is turning directly to the people who know it best. In a recent community post, Erika invited past and present customers and employees to share their thoughts and design ideas—specifically regarding the property’s frontage.
As renovation work gets underway, community members are encouraged to drop their ideas and feedback in the comments on The Star Drive-In’s Facebook page to help shape the next 60 years of memories.
