Daniel “Dan” Michael Pitts, 37, of South Easton, MA, left this world far too soon on August 24, 2026, following injuries sustained in a tragic motorcycle accident the night before.

Born on January 6, 1989, Dan grew up in Hanson, MA, and was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. While his life was cut heartbreakingly short, those who knew Dan will remember him not for the circumstances of his passing, but for the remarkable person he was—the talents he shared, the passions he pursued, and the kindness he showed to others.

Dan was a man of many talents and was never afraid of hard work. Over the years, he worked in a variety of roles, including as a mechanic, waiter, and painter, always putting his heart, sweat, and determination into whatever he did. Through his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, Dan eventually became a sole proprietor and the proud owner of Phoenix Painting Plus LLC.

To those who knew him best, Dan was defined by his creativity and his profound love of Jeeps. A lifelong Jeep enthusiast, he spent countless hours restoring and working on his vehicles, taking great pride in bringing them back to life and putting them to the test through his love of off-roading in the woods and by the water. He was a frequent participant in local Jeep Jamborees and community events, where his passion for the Jeep community was as evident as his enthusiasm for the vehicles themselves.

Dan’s artistic abilities were apparent from a young age. He earned a “Most Artistic” award in middle school, an early recognition of a gift that would remain an important part of his life. He loved to draw, paint, and write music, using creativity as a way to express the thoughts and feelings that made him uniquely Dan. Under the stage name CAPRICIOUS, he often performed his original songs for anyone willing to listen. Through his music and art, Dan shared his heart, his imagination, and his own unique perspective with the world.

Dan also had a deep and genuine love for animals. He grew up surrounded by hamsters and several beloved family dogs, but no animal held quite the place in his heart that his adopted Frenchie mix, Mr. Biggie Small—affectionately known as “Biggies”—did. Dan’s gentle and caring nature shone through in the special bond they shared, and Biggies was truly a beloved companion and an important part of Dan’s life.

Dan’s final moments came after a serious crash on Route 138 in Raynham on Sunday evening, August 23. At approximately 7:45 p.m., Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 138 at King Philip Street for a crash involving Dan’s motorcycle and a pickup truck. Dan sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Morton Hospital before being flown by MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Dan passed away overnight from the injuries he sustained. He was 37 years old.

Although his passing was sudden and tragic, Dan’s story is so much more than the accident that took his life. He was a hardworking business owner, a mechanic, an artist, a musician, a painter, a Jeep enthusiast, an animal lover, and a deeply caring person who gave generously of his time and talents.

Above all else, Dan was generous with his time and love to those he met. Sharing his talents and helping others were among the ways he chose to connect with people, offer support, and bring light into their lives. He had a creative spirit, a caring heart, and a willingness to give of himself that left an impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Dan left this world far sooner than anyone should have to say goodbye. Yet the things he loved and the people and animals he cared for will continue to carry pieces of him forward—his artwork, his music, his Jeeps, the work of his hands, and the memories of the kindness he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
