We’re not entirely sure what Cassius is. His paperwork says “miniature Australian shepherd,” but honestly? We’re feeling a little more Australian cattle dog + corgi. He’s got the corgi shape with the coat of a cattle dog, and frankly, we’re obsessed.
Cassius is about 7.5 years old and just over 30 pounds of wonderfully weird.
But underneath that adorable exterior is a very sweet, shy, sensitive soul. When Cassius feels unsure or overwhelmed, his first instinct is to hide or run away, not become defensive. That means his person will need to understand that this boy needs time.
Slow and steady wins Cassius’s heart. ❤️
Give him patience. Give him space. Let him come to you. Win his trust—and once you do, you’ll have a loyal best friend who will love you forever AND eventually show you his absolutely ridiculous, silly-goose side.
And trust us…
10/10. Worth it every single time.
Cassius does tend to warm up more quickly to women than men, but fellas, don’t give up on him! He can absolutely get there with patience, consistency, and a little effort.
🐶 Dogs: Cassius previously lived with other dogs without issue and has done wonderfully with dogs here. Having a canine buddy may even help boost his confidence.
🐱 Cats: We haven’t officially tested him yet, but we’ll be doing that in the coming days.
👧 Kids: We’d prefer children 12+, simply because Cassius is so shy initially. Kids can be A LOT when you’re already feeling unsure and overwhelmed, and we want to set this sensitive guy up for success.
🦮 Leash skills: FANTASTIC. Seriously. He stays right by your side, and even if something catches his attention, it’s incredibly easy to get him focused back on you.
That, friends, is basically like finding a wild unicorn. 🦄
Cassius may not be the dog who runs up and immediately demands to be your best friend.
He’s the dog who asks you to earn his trust.
And once he gives it to you?
You’ll know you were chosen by something pretty darn special. ❤️
