The streets of New Bedford were alive with Halloween spirit this past Friday as the community turned out in full force for a hugely successful Annual Trunk-or-Treat event, welcoming more than 700 people, including over 400 eager children.
The festivities drew such an incredible crowd that at one point, the line of costumed participants stretched all the way around the bustling intersection of Sawyer Street and Acushnet Avenue.
A community celebration of this scale doesn’t happen overnight, and organizers expressed deep gratitude to everyone who lent a hand. A massive round of applause goes out to the New Bedford Fire Department, New Bedford EMS, City of New Bedford Emergency Management, the NBPU-New Bedford Police Union, DFFM, local SROs, New Bedford Lead Outreach, the Shannon program, City Councilor Scott Pemberton, and the tireless volunteers who dedicated their time and energy.
Special recognition was also given to the Traffic Unit for working tirelessly to keep the parking lot running smoothly and safely throughout the evening.
From the creative trunks and generous candy distribution to the families who brought their little ghouls and goblins out for a night of safe Halloween fun, it was a night to remember. Organizers are already looking forward to next year—so start planning those costumes now!
