The New Bedford Fire Department Marine Unit, along with our public safety partners and event staff, worked collaboratively during this year’s Buzzards Bay Swim as wind conditions increased and water conditions became more challenging.
“While more swimmers required assistance from the water than in a typical year, crews responded quickly and professionally to ensure the safety of all participants. We are proud of the coordination, communication, and teamwork demonstrated across all agencies involved.”
We also want to recognize the swimmers we assisted, many of whom expressed appreciation for the professionalism and attentiveness of our safety vessel crews. Our priority remains the safety and well-being of everyone on the water at all times.
Despite the challenging conditions, the event concluded safely with a finish line full of determined and grateful swimmers. We thank all participants, volunteers, and partner agencies for their trust and cooperation.
Shout out to the New Bedford Fire Department Marine Unit!
