Four whole months, and Calamity is STILL waiting for someone to see what we see in her. 💔 And yes, Calamity is a big girl — 78 pounds of Catahoula Leopard Dog mix — but here’s the thing:
She KNOWS she’s a big girl.
She’s not a bull in a china shop.
She’s not chaos incarnate.
She’s not the ringleader of a three-ring circus that’s somehow caught on fire. 😂
Despite her name, Calamity is actually a polite, even-tempered girl with MANNERS.
At about 5½ years old, she’s full-grown and a mature, responsible adult. She’d pay taxes if she could. 😆
She’s intelligent, knows her cues, and is fantastic on leash, especially for a dog her size. She’s athletic and sporty and will need regular exercise, but she’s not the type to parkour off your body or bounce off the walls.
🎾 SHE LOVES TOYS.
In fact, Calamity will literally play fetch with herself. (Traditional human-directed fetch? Eh… she’s not quite as impressed.) 😂
Once she knows you, though?
She absolutely LIVES for human attention. ❤️
That’s one of her favorite things.
The catch is that Calamity can take some time to warm up to strangers, so multiple meet-and-greets at the shelter will be required. We’d also prefer a home with a fenced-in yard and a household that doesn’t frequently have visitors.
A few important things about Calamity:
🐱 NO CATS — she does not like them.
🐶 She’s selective about her canine friends and seems to prefer male dogs over females.
👧 We’d like children in the home to be 12+, simply because Calamity was found as a stray and we have very little history on her.
🏡 A fenced yard is preferred.
Calamity is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccines. She’s also tested negative for heartworm, Lyme, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichia.
So what does this big, smart, athletic, well-mannered girl really need?
A person who will give her a little time.
A home where she can settle in.
Someone who appreciates a dog with a personality, boundaries, and a giant heart.
