Tim Curry, one of the most distinctive and unforgettable performers of his generation, has sadly passed away at the age of 80.
Curry’s death was reported on August 26, with reports stating that he died Tuesday night.
Across a career spanning more than five decades, Curry had a remarkable ability to make virtually every role unforgettable. His legendary performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show became a defining moment in pop culture, while his chilling portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King’s It introduced his work to an entirely new generation of fans.
His celebrated filmography also included memorable performances in Clue, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Muppet Treasure Island and Scary Movie 2, alongside an extensive career on stage and as a voice actor.
Few performers could move so effortlessly between comedy, horror, musicals and larger-than-life villainous roles. Curry brought a singular presence to everything he did, creating characters that remain deeply embedded in popular culture.
His performances will continue to entertain, frighten and inspire audiences for generations to come.
