Last week, the Westport Police Department claimed bragging rights in the first-ever Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game, topping the Westport Fire Department in a tight 1–0 matchup.
While the police took home the victory on the scoreboard, the true win belonged to the Westport community. Players from both departments brought great energy to the diamond, sharing plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and strong camaraderie throughout the afternoon. The event offered local officers and firefighters a fantastic opportunity to come together, enjoy the game, and interact with the residents they serve.
Organizers expressed deep gratitude to community members who came out to show their support, enjoy local food options, and participate in the 50/50 raffle.
Most importantly, the afternoon raised funds and awareness for Westport Girls Softball. Supporting the town’s young athletes was the core mission of the event, and both departments were proud to back the program.
With the first matchup in the books, organizers hope to turn the Battle of the Badges into an annual Westport tradition.
