Westport firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at approximately 2 a.m. last night at Westport Market on American Legion Highway.
First-arriving firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews quickly knocked down the fire before it could spread into the attic space.
While structural damage was minimal, the building sustained significant smoke damage. The fire is not considered suspicious and appears to have originated in a piece of refrigeration equipment.
