FALL RIVER, Mass. — For the officers of the Fall River Police Department, dedication to the community doesn’t end when the final school bell rings.
Officers Alemian and Mello, well-known to students as School Resource Officers (SROs), have been demonstrating that community policing is a round-the-clock commitment. Beyond their daily roles inside the schools, the officers have stepped up to take on walking beat assignments, spending quality time in local public parks and actively engaging with neighborhood residents.
The proactive foot patrols come as part of the department’s broader effort to listen and respond to community feedback regarding safety and quality of life in local neighborhoods. By increasing visibility and fostering open communication, the department aims to address resident concerns directly.
The community-first approach recently led to a heartwarming reunion off-campus. While on a walking beat, Officers Alemian and Mello ran into some familiar young faces—students from the Greene School—along with their parents. The group took a moment to chat and share a laugh, proving that even outside the classroom, students can’t escape their favorite SROs.
“Community policing is about more than enforcement,” department leadership shared. “It’s about showing up, building relationships, listening, and following through.”
The Fall River Police Department extended its thanks to Officers Alemian and Mello for going above and beyond their regular assignments and representing the department with pride.
