FALL RIVER, Mass. — Detectives with the Fall River Police Department’s Community Action & Suppression Team (C.A.S.T.) executed a targeted search warrant on Thursday, October 8, resulting in a major narcotics seizure and the arrest of a local resident.
With assistance from the department’s Emergency Services Unit (ESU), officers raided an apartment at 2000 Bay Street and searched a vehicle tied to the investigation, a 2014 Acura ILX. Inside the trunk of the vehicle, detectives located a backpack containing approximately 545.53 grams (1.2 pounds) of suspected cocaine.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Frank Saunders, was taken into custody without incident. Saunders faces formal charges of Trafficking in Cocaine, 200 Grams or More.
Chief J.T. Hoar lauded the coordination and effort between the participating units following the operation:
“This is another example of the proactive investigative work being conducted by C.A.S.T.,” said Chief Hoar. “Removing more than half a kilogram of cocaine from circulation is a significant seizure and demonstrates our continued commitment to disrupting drug trafficking activity in our community. I want to recognize the teamwork between our detectives and Emergency Services Unit personnel in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion.”
The Fall River Police Department reiterated its commitment to cracking down on local drug trafficking networks and improving public safety across city neighborhoods.
