The City of New Bedford has outlined its seasonal curbside yard waste and brush collection services for 2026. Managed by Capitol Waste Services, the program offers regular seasonal pickup for lawn debris along with appointment-based collection for larger branches and brush.
Curbside Yard Waste Collection (Grass, Leaves, & Small Twigs)
Seasonal curbside yard waste pickup runs from the week of April 6 through the week of December 7, 2026.
Collection Schedule
Yard waste is collected on the day following your regular trash and recycling pickup during designated collection weeks:

Guidelines & Set-Out Rules
- Placement Time: Place items at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your designated yard waste collection day.
- Acceptable Materials: Grass clippings, leaves, and small twigs (up to $1/4$ inch in diameter).
- Approved Containers: Use biodegradable brown lawn and leaf bags or set materials out loose in a barrel.
- Prohibited Containers: Do not use plastic trash bags, cardboard boxes, or official City-issued trash/recycling carts.
Branches & Brush Pickup (By Appointment Only)
For larger yard debris, Capitol Waste Services provides monthly brush and branch collection on the last Wednesday of each month, starting April 29, 2026, and ending November 25, 2026.
Requirements
- Appointments Required: You must schedule a pickup in advance by contacting Capitol Waste Services at (855) 533-3400.
- Bundling Rules: Branches must be securely tied in bundles.
- Size Limits:
- Branch Diameter: Maximum 4 inches per branch.
- Bundle Size: Maximum 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter.
