MILLIS, Mass. — Following a brief and concerning scare for local families, the Millis Police Department has confirmed that sealed foil packages of MiraFAST distributed during Halloween trick-or-treating were handed out accidentally by a resident on May Road.

According to an official update released by Chief of Police Christopher J. Soffayer, authorities successfully located the residence responsible for the distribution. Officials noted that one 11-year-old child consumed one of the packages. The child’s parents are aware of the situation and are currently handling the child’s medical evaluation.
From Initial Alert to Resolution
This update follows an earlier urgent advisory issued by the Millis Police Department on Halloween night. In the department’s previous post, officers alerted families who had trick-or-treated in the Rolling Meadow, May Road, and Paddock Lane neighborhoods to immediately check their children’s candy and treats.
At the time of the initial alert, police stated that sealed foil packages of MiraFAST had been given out in the area, though it remained unclear whether the distribution was intentional or accidental as officers went door-to-door to investigate.
Thanks to assistance from community members who stepped forward to help identify the home, law enforcement was able to quickly resolve the uncertainty and determine that the incident was an accident rather than a malicious act.
Guidance for Parents
While the source has been identified and contained, the Millis Police Department encourages all parents and guardians whose children trick-or-treated in the affected neighborhood to remain vigilant and double-check their children’s candy.
