ATTLEBORO — Authorities in Attleboro are investigating the tragic deaths of an elderly man and woman who were found dead inside a 32 Andover Ave. home on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Attleboro Police Chief Kyle P. Heagney and Fire Chief Scott T. Lachance, emergency responders were dispatched to the residence at 11:28 a.m. on Oct. 14 after a health aide requested a welfare check.
When attempts to make contact with anyone inside proved unsuccessful, first responders forced entry into the home. Inside, they discovered the elderly couple deceased, along with a dead cat.
Investigators on the scene noted evidence of a significant fire inside the residence. While a preliminary investigation has led authorities to classify the incident as non-suspicious, the exact causes of both the deaths and the fire remain actively under investigation.
The multi-agency response is being handled by the Attleboro Police and Fire Departments, alongside State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
