PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Hasbro is officially winding down its more than a century-long history in Rhode Island, filing a formal WARN notice impacting nearly 600 employees as the iconic toymaker transitions its primary corporate headquarters to Boston.
Under the relocation plan, Hasbro’s longtime facilities at 1011 and 1027 Newport Ave. in Pawtucket will permanently close. According to official company notices, employees’ final day working on-site in Pawtucket will be Thursday, Dec. 24, just ahead of the holiday shutdown. Operations at the new headquarters are scheduled to resume on Monday, Jan. 4, 2027, with the company anticipating “no anticipated interruption” to business. Employees are expected to report to the new office beginning Jan. 5, 2027.
The company is moving its primary operations into a 265,000-square-foot space spanning seven floors at 400 Summer St. in Boston’s Seaport District. Once established in the new hub, staff will operate under a hybrid schedule requiring them to work in-office three days a week.
While Hasbro has extended equivalent job offers to all affected Rhode Island staff members, the tight timeline has created a dilemma for the workforce. In its notices, the company stated, “Because the company is unable to confirm at this time which employees will accept the relocation offer, this notice is being provided to all affected employees out of an abundance of caution.”
For any worker who ultimately decides against the move, employment with the company will end on Dec. 24.
The sweeping transition marks the end of an era for Pawtucket, where Hasbro grew into a global gaming and entertainment giant. Meanwhile, the company’s digital and gaming headquarters in Renton, Washington—which manages Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons—will remain entirely unaffected by the relocation.
