The next generation of Fall River leaders recently stepped out of the classroom and into the heart of the community for a day of inspiration, learning, and local pride. All photos are courtesy of Viva Fall River.
On July 27, Viva Fall River partnered with B.M.C. Durfee High School Principal Dr. Jessica Stephens to host a special trolley tour for members of the incoming senior class Student School Council. The experience was designed to introduce student leaders to the entrepreneurs, artists, business owners, and community advocates helping shape Fall River’s future.
Throughout the afternoon, students explored some of the city’s most iconic destinations, gaining firsthand insight into the innovation, creativity, craftsmanship, and hospitality that define the local community.
The tour included stops at Dorothy Cox Chocolates, Vanson Leathers Inc., and the Narrows Center for the Arts, along with lunch at Primo on Water Street. The day concluded with sweet treats and a ride on the historic Fall River Carousel at Gathering Grounds Café.
Organizers expressed their appreciation to Mayor Paul Coogan’s Office, Francis and Dorothy Cox, Gregory Molinar and Kim Van der Sleezen of Vanson Leathers, the team at Primo on Water Street, Debra Charlebois, Kathy Furze-Spencer, and Michele L’Heureux of the Narrows Center for the Arts, and Karl Pelletier and the Gathering Grounds Café and Fall River Carousel team for welcoming the students and sharing their experiences.
More than just a tour, the event gave students a closer look at the opportunities that exist within their own city while encouraging them to envision themselves as future leaders who can make a lasting impact.
By connecting young leaders with the people and places that make Fall River unique, the program reinforced a simple but powerful message: the city’s future is already in capable hands.
