When faith meets action, real community transformation happens. That was the spirit of celebration last week as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Leduc Center for Civic Engagement presented its prestigious 2026 Community Member Civic Leadership Award to Father Senior Rob Nemkovich.
The award honors individuals who demonstrate a sustained, deep commitment to civic life and public policy impact. For Father Rob—who serves as pastor of Blessed Trinity Church, chaplain for the Fall River Police Department, and parish administrator of Holy Cross Parish in Central Falls, Rhode Island—service is a daily calling.
Known for bridging faith, public safety, and local organizations, Father Rob has been a cornerstone in addressing critical challenges like food insecurity, homelessness, addiction support, and gun violence prevention across the region.
His hands-on dedication is visible year-round through impactful community programs, including:
- The Annual Fall River Community Brunch: Providing a warm meal and welcoming space on Christmas Day for anyone alone or in need.
- Holiday Toy Drives: Partnering with the Fall River Police Department for annual Christmas toy distributions.
- Community Turkey Dinners: Hosting annual Thanksgiving dinners to ensure families share in the holiday spirit.
- Guns for Groceries: Collaborating with local law enforcement to help remove firearms from the streets safely.
- Weekly Outreach: Volunteering regularly to feed the homeless in Fall River, alongside adapting remote worship options during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep parishioners connected.
Surrounded by family, parishioners, local leaders—including Fall River Mayor Coogan—and fellow award recipients, Father Rob expressed deep humility and gratitude for the recognition. In a touching reflection, he also highlighted his ministry partner, Kathy, who was recently honored with the “Hero in the Fight” award from NAMI Bristol County.
Through tireless compassion and a steadfast commitment to putting service before self, Father Rob and the Blessed Trinity Parish continue to make Fall River a brighter, more supportive home for everyone.
