NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford Elections Commission has released essential updates regarding the upcoming November 3 General State and Congressional Elections, including critical polling location changes for two precincts, early voting schedules, and mail-in ballot deadlines.

South End Polling Location Changes

Following the recent closure of the Moose Home (Lodge), two polling sites in the South End have been relocated. The changes affect voters in Ward 5 Precinct C and Ward 6 Precinct F:

  • Ward 5 Precinct C: Voters will now cast their ballots at St. Teresa of Calcutta School, located at 180 Orchard Street.
  • Ward 6 Precinct F: Voters will now cast their ballots at The New Life Southcoast Church, located at 1331-1335 Cove Road.

These changes take effect immediately for the November 3 election. Polls across New Bedford will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, where residents will vote on a wide slate of local, state, and federal offices, including Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor, and members of Congress and the Massachusetts General Court.

Mail-In, Absentee, and Early Voting Options

Voters looking to cast their ballots early or by mail have several options available:

  • Mail-In Voting: Registered voters can request a mail-in ballot online or in person at the Elections Office in City Hall (Room 114) on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Applications must be submitted by Tuesday, October 27, at 5:00 PM. Completed ballots can be hand-delivered to the office, dropped off in the white drop boxes outside City Hall on Elm Street, or sent via the Post Office.
  • In-Person Early Voting: Early voting takes place downtown on the third floor of the New Bedford Main Public Library (613 Pleasant Street) from October 17 through October 30, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The final day to register to vote is Saturday, October 24.
  • Absentee Ballots: Absentee voting is available at the Election Office until Monday, November 2, at 12:00 PM. Family members may also apply on behalf of students attending college outside the city or state.

Need Assistance?

Residents with questions regarding their voting status, updated polling locations, or mail-in options can contact the New Bedford Board of Elections Commission directly at (508) 979-1420.
