PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A community is coming together in deep support of a local family following a horrific home-invasion attack in Providence that left a 2-year-old toddler in critical condition and her mother severely injured.
The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Nelson Blanco, has been arrested and faces multiple severe charges, including:
- Assault with Intent to Commit Murder involving an adult female victim
- Assault with Intent to Commit Murder involving a 2-year-old child
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Breaking and Entering into a Dwelling Occupied by a Person Over 60
- Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime of Violence
- Possession of a Knife with a Blade Longer Than 3 Inches
The Road to Recovery
The attack has completely upended the family’s lives in an instant. Antonio Javier, husband and father, shared the heartbreak of seeing his wife and toddler daughter targeted in their own home. While his daughter fights for her life in critical condition, both she and her mother face extensive medical care and physical recovery.
Due to the trauma and ongoing medical demands, the family is currently unable to work, adding severe financial strain to an already unimaginable tragedy.
