Fall River Police have arrested 18-year-old Bruno Darosa, one of the suspects wanted in connection with the Cash Street shooting, following a coordinated investigation that led detectives to a residence on Coffin Avenue in New Bedford.
On Friday, September 18, 2026, members of the Fall River Police Department’s Major Crimes Division were notified by New Bedford Police detectives that Darosa had been seen entering a residence on Coffin Avenue.
Fall River detectives immediately responded to New Bedford and established surveillance at the location while simultaneously preparing a search warrant for the residence. With assistance from the Emergency Services Unit (ESU), Community Action & Suppression Team (CAST), and Crime Scene Unit (CSU), officers executed the warrant.
During the entry, multiple individuals attempted to hide from ESU members. Investigators also discovered that a firearm had been discarded into a toilet inside an unsecured apartment.
After completing an initial sweep, investigators obtained a second search warrant authorizing a search of the apartment, attic, and basement for additional evidence connected to the Cash Street shooting.
Investigators ultimately recovered a Smith & Wesson .380-caliber firearm equipped with a laser attachment, along with a loaded eight-round magazine, from the toilet. Further examination determined that the firearm did not have a serial number.
Darosa was also located by ESU members attempting to hide in the attic. He was taken into custody, transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, and later booked at Fall River Police Department Headquarters.
The operation also resulted in the apprehension of a fugitive wanted in connection with a stabbing incident in New Bedford.
Chief Hoar expressed his appreciation to the New Bedford Police Department for its assistance, stating that the department is grateful for the continued partnership and cooperation between the two agencies.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
