On August 28, 2026, Kathy and her family experienced the unimaginable loss of her beloved son, Michel Richard Poisson, who passed away suddenly at just 49 years old.
Michel was a kind, gentle, and peaceful soul whose life was filled with a love of music, learning, travel, and discovering different cultures. He was a talented musician, a loving brother, an amazing uncle, and a devoted son.
Michel and his mother, Kathleen “Kathy” Poisson, shared an incredibly special bond. He called his mom every single day, making their connection one that was truly extraordinary. His sudden passing has left Kathy and her family heartbroken and facing a pain no parent should ever have to endure.
Michel, of Chepachet, was born in Fall River to Kathy (Gwozdz) Poisson and the late Richard Poisson. He built a life shaped by curiosity, creativity, education, music, work, and travel. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Full Sail University in Florida. He later worked as an information technician for the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, where he was known for his dedication and commitment to his work.
Music was one of Michel’s greatest passions. He was a talented musician who loved music in all its forms—playing it, listening to it, and producing it.
Michel also had a deep love for travel and culture. He especially enjoyed visiting China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Amsterdam. He learned to speak Mandarin and developed a profound interest in Buddhist culture. He frequently visited the Buddhist temple in Raynham, where he generously spent time teaching the monks English.
Those who knew Michel remember him for his kind heart, peaceful nature, and genuine warmth. He was an incredible son, a wonderful brother, and the best uncle. His presence brought love and meaning to the lives of so many people, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Michel is survived by his mother, Kathy; his sister, Jessica Abrantes, and her husband, Johnathan; his niece and nephews, Cody Porter, Samantha Achadinha and her husband, Aaron, and Aiden Abrantes; his great-nephew, Kyler Achadinha; and his mother’s beloved dog, Willow.
