A conversation can save a life. September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
Suicide can affect people of every age and background. Sometimes, those who are struggling the most may not show it. That’s why a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.
Check in. Listen without judgment. Let someone know they’re not alone.
If you or someone you know is struggling, you don’t have to face it alone. Call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Trained crisis counselors are available 24/7 to provide free, confidential support.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
We are also proud to work alongside behavioral health clinicians from Child & Family Services, Inc. and NorthStar Learning Centers, Inc., who are embedded within the department and help connect individuals and families with appropriate support and services during times of crisis.
This month, and every month, let’s look out for one another, start the conversation, and remind the people around us that they matter.
