WESTPORT, MA — Westport Police arrested a Fall River man following an overnight break-in at Lees Supermarket’s liquor store on Main Road.
On the morning of August 25, 2026, Westport Police responded to Lees Supermarket to investigate a reported break-in that occurred sometime during the overnight hours.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a broken exterior window and a damaged interior door window. Two broken liquor bottles were also found on the ground outside the building.
Detectives responded to process the scene and continue the investigation. Through video surveillance and other investigative means, detectives developed a potential suspect.
The following day, August 26, detectives and patrol officers responded to an address on Kirby Road to speak with the suspect, identified as Jacob Farias. Officers located Farias in the backyard, where he attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief foot pursuit.
Farias was apprehended a short distance away and placed under arrest. He was booked at the Westport Police Department before being transported to the Fall River Justice Center.

- Larceny from a Building
