
Mary Rapoza’s retirement marks the close of an extraordinary chapter of service to the City of New Bedford. For more than a decade as Director of Parks, Recreation & Beaches, Mary’s leadership transformed our parks and public spaces, expanded recreational programs, and created more opportunities for children, families, and residents of all ages to enjoy the outdoors.
Her passion for public spaces and her commitment to connecting people with nature, recreation, and one another have left a lasting impact on our community. Thanks to her vision and dedication, New Bedford is a healthier, more vibrant, and more connected city.
