Rescue crews have recovered the body of a woman who went missing after falling from a jet ski in Long Pond in Lakeville, Massachusetts, following an hours-long search Tuesday night.
Lakeville police responded around 6 p.m. to the area of Nelson Island and Big Beach after receiving reports that a passenger had fallen from a jet ski into the water.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said the woman’s body was located at approximately 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. She was later identified as 25-year-old Daisha Murphy of Brockton.
Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Dive Team, the Plymouth County Dive Team, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lakeville Police Department, the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
In the wake of the tragedy, Murphy’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and support her young daughter.
According to the fundraiser, Murphy was a devoted mother, loving daughter and sister, and was building a career in healthcare as a phlebotomist. Family members described her daughter as “everything to her,” saying Murphy was both her sole provider and protector.
Donations will help pay for funeral costs and provide ongoing care and support for her daughter. Those who are unable to contribute are encouraged to share the fundraiser to help the family reach others.
Funeral services have been entrusted to George Lopes Funeral Home, located at 647 Main Street in Brockton. Services are scheduled for July 10, 2026.
The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support, and asked the community to continue keeping Murphy’s daughter and loved ones in their thoughts during this difficult time.
