It is with heavy hearts that we report the closure of Estoril Restaurant, a beloved fixture and culinary cornerstone of Fall River’s Portuguese community.
While no official announcement was posted on the restaurant’s public pages, one of the owners shared on her personal Facebook account that she has officially retired. The historic 1897 mixed-use building at 1577 Pleasant Street—housing the restaurant on the ground floor along with upper-level residential units—has recently been listed for sale. There has been no postings on Facebook and a piece of paper taped to the door said that they were on vacation according to local reporting by the Herald News. We verified that the last social media posts were made on July 4th, closed for vacation. The post was never updated and comments on the post were not answered.
Widely celebrated throughout the South Coast, Estoril was famous for serving authentic, home-style Portuguese cuisine, earning regional acclaim including a feature on the Phantom Gourmet and recognition for serving the Best Portuguese Steak in Fall River.
Estoril’s warmth, traditions, and legendary dishes will be deeply missed by generations of loyal diners across the region. We wish the owners all the best in their well-deserved retirement and thank them for decades of incredible food and memories.
