A Halloween gathering in Cranston, Rhode Island, spiraled out of control on Friday night, resulting in a massive police response, chaotic street scenes, and six arrests—including two adults facing criminal charges.
According to the Cranston Police Department, officers rushed to a home at 58 Weston Avenue at approximately 9:43 p.m. on October 30, 2026, following a 911 call reporting a disturbance and fighting.
A Dispersal and Dangerous Escape
Upon arrival, responding officers encountered an estimated crowd of upwards of 150 attendees, many of whom were juveniles. As police secured the area, panicked partygoers fled the property, running directly through active traffic on Cranston Street and creating severe safety hazards for both motorists and pedestrians.
Due to the size of the crowd, Cranston police requested backup, receiving crucial mutual aid from the Providence Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police to safely manage and disperse the teenagers.
Underage Drinking and Arrests
Inside the property and during the chaos, officers observed attendees as young as 15 possessing and consuming alcohol. Investigators noted numerous discarded alcoholic beverage containers, empty shot cups, and miniature liquor bottles scattered across tables in the side and backyard.
In total, six individuals were arrested:
- Four juveniles were taken into custody for offenses including disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer. Three teenage girls (ages 15 and 16) were also found to have been drinking, with preliminary breath tests confirming alcohol consumption. One of the juveniles faced additional charges for underage alcohol possession and possessing under an ounce of marijuana. Their parents were subsequently contacted to pick them up from police headquarters.
- Silvia Acevedo, 47, the adult resident of the Weston Avenue home, acknowledged permitting the gathering—which she claimed was meant to be a smaller get-together for her 17-year-old daughter’s friends. Because underage alcohol was openly available, Acevedo was arrested and charged under Rhode Island’s social host laws with furnishing/procurement of alcoholic beverages for underage persons.
- Mathias Henebury, 52, of Johnston, was arrested after allegedly interfering with officers attempting to catch a fleeing juvenile. Henebury resisted arrest and scuffled with supervisors on the scene, leading to charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer, and resisting arrest.
A Serious Warning to Parents
Following the incident, the Cranston Police Department issued a stern reminder to the community regarding the dangers of underage drinking and the severe legal liabilities tied to social hosting.
Authorities emphasized that knowingly allowing or facilitating underage drinking puts young people and the surrounding neighborhood at extreme risk, and adults who host such gatherings will face strict prosecution under the law.
