The New Bedford High School JROTC Drill Team kicked off the 2026–2027 school year in style last Saturday, October 24, at Brockton High School, taking home an impressive collection of trophies at their first drill competition of the season.
Competing against high schools from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Army League—a statewide organization consisting of ten participating schools—the Whaler Battalion delivered an outstanding performance across multiple rigorous divisions.
The team’s placements included:
- 2nd Place: Armed New Cadet Squad Division
- 3rd Place: Overall Drill Competition
- 3rd Place: Unarmed Platoon Inspection Division
- 3rd Place: Unarmed Color Guard Division
Following their strong start, the Whaler Battalion will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to host the next league drill competition on November 21 right at New Bedford High School.
