DARTMOUTH, MA — For a stray cat wandering the South Coast, survival often comes down to timing, luck, and the kindness of strangers. For Buster, a malnourished and affectionate tabby, all three aligned during a September trap-neuter-return (TNR) week hosted by Moby Kit Rescue.
Hungry and searching for his next meal, Buster approached the rescue site seeking help. A volunteer successfully trapped the gentle cat and brought him into care. Upon arrival, Buster was so ravenous that he couldn’t decide whether to dig into dry kibble or canned food first.
Despite being visibly malnourished from his time on the streets, Buster’s sweet and loving nature immediately shone through.
“Buster was equally malnourished as he was kind, and one of our amazing volunteers stepped in to foster him,” shared the volunteer-run, foster-based feline rescue. “It’s been two weeks and you’ve made yourself at home. You are an affectionate and gentle kitty who was simply looking for anyone to notice—for anyone to give you a chance.”
Next Steps on the Road to Adoption
Buster’s story is already moving into its next heartwarming chapter. He has a vet appointment scheduled for this week to get a full checkup and address his medical needs, including an upcoming eye surgery for entropion—a condition where the eyelid rolls inward—to ensure he stays comfortable and healthy.
Supporters and prospective adopters won’t have to wait long to learn more about him. Moby Kit Rescue anticipates posting Buster’s official adoption profile on Petfinder and Facebook sometime next week. The profile will include additional details about his personality, health updates, and approximate age.
For a cat who went from wandering the streets to purring in a cozy foster home, Buster’s journey is a reminder of the power of community rescue work.
