FALL RIVER — A 39-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Friday afternoon after being struck by a black SUV at the intersection of South Main Street and King Philip Street, according to Fall River police.
Police responded to the intersection shortly before 1 p.m. for a report of a crash involving the bicyclist and a motor vehicle.
The preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist was traveling on South Main Street when she entered the intersection against a red traffic signal. While in the intersection, she was struck by a black SUV.
Fall River EMS transported the bicyclist to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious.
Members of the Fall River Police Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit, including accident reconstruction personnel, responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not announced any citations or criminal charges at this time.
