Born in Fall River and raised in Assonet, Chris was the son of David V. Pereira and his wife, Marianne, of Assonet, and Karen M. (Phillips) Bessette and her husband, Raymond, of Homosassa, Florida.
Christopher D. Pereira, 50, of Holden, Massachusetts, died tragically on September 18, 2026, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Chris was obeying all traffic laws when the accident occurred.
Above all else, Chris was a dad. His children, Evan and Cora, were at the center of his life, and being their father was the role he treasured most. Saying that Chris was “good with kids” would be a tremendous understatement. The love, confidence, and kindness he gave his children are a lasting testament to the extraordinary father he was.
Chris had a quick wit and an uncanny ability to leave a room in stitches with a perfectly timed line. He was just as comfortable having a deep, meaningful conversation as he was delivering a good-natured ribbing. He was thoughtful, deeply intelligent, remarkably attuned to the people around him, and delightfully competitive. He thought things through, felt things deeply, and possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world and the people in it.
Music was a lifelong part of Chris’s world. A bass guitarist and sound engineer, he turned his passion into both an education and a career. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sound Recording Technology from UMass Lowell and went on to spend more than 20 years at Bose Corporation, most recently serving as a technology project manager.
But Chris’s life was never defined by work alone. He was happiest spending time with the people he loved. Holidays, game nights, camping trips, ski trips, riding adventures, and playing live music all brought him joy. He also loved basketball and played throughout his life.
His home away from home was deep in the woods. Away from the noise of everyday life — and, as Chris would have appreciated, far from the nearest leaf blower — he was living out a dream by building a cabin with his own hands. He would take his Jeep out there, work on the cabin for a while, and then sit on the front porch, taking in the beauty of the woods and basking in the komorebi. The cabin was almost finished.
Chris is survived by his son, Evan Pereira, and daughter, Cora Pereira, both of Holden; his father, David V. Pereira, and his wife, Marianne, of Assonet; his mother, Karen M. (Phillips) Bessette, and her husband, Raymond, of Homosassa, Florida; his brother, Timothy Pereira, of Lakeville; and his nieces, Chloe and Sophie, and his nephew, Maxwell.

No words can adequately describe the heartbreak of losing a father so suddenly, especially at an age when there are still so many milestones, celebrations, accomplishments, and everyday moments they should have had the chance to share with him.
Cora and Evan are both in high school, with bright, college-bound futures ahead of them. In the midst of devastating grief, they are now facing a future that looks very different from the one they knew just days ago. They have lost not only their dad, but also the provider who worked tirelessly to give them security and opportunity.
