Providence Police have charged 19-year-old Chukuwnonso Uzoma-eze with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred shortly after midnight following an altercation at a Providence lounge.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., Providence Police patrol officers responded to the area after receiving reports of an altercation in a parking lot. Upon arrival, officers learned that two individuals had sustained stab wounds.
The first victim, 18-year-old Marvins Antoine, a first-year student at UMass Dartmouth and a member of the university’s football team, suffered stab wounds to the chest. He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The second victim, 19-year-old Kensley Macean, also a first-year UMass Dartmouth student and football player, suffered stab wounds to the head and neck. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
Police said both Antoine and Macean had been at Mezza Lounge with other members of the UMass Dartmouth football team before the incident.
Investigation
According to police, the incident stemmed from an altercation involving individuals who had been at the lounge prior to the stabbing.
Immediately following the incident, Providence Police detectives began interviewing witnesses and reviewing available evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Following the investigation, detectives identified Uzoma-eze as the suspect believed to have been involved in the fatal stabbing. He was subsequently located and taken into custody by the UMass Dartmouth Police Department.
Uzoma-eze has been charged with:

Providence Police detectives continue to work with the UMass Dartmouth Police Department and other law enforcement partners as the investigation moves forward.
Detectives are continuing to:
- Interview witnesses;
- Review available surveillance footage;
- Collect and analyze evidence; and
- Determine the complete sequence of events leading up to the stabbing.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional charges may be filed as detectives continue to review evidence collected during the investigation.
