Fall River Public Schools is welcoming back a familiar face to Resiliency Preparatory Academy (RPA), as veteran educator Robert Correia returns to the district to serve as the school’s interim principal.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Smith announced that Correia, who previously led RPA, will return to the 290 Rock Street campus beginning today, Monday, August 24, 2026.
A longtime Fall River educator, Correia brings more than 28 years of experience with Fall River Public Schools, including extensive work developing and supporting alternative pathways for students.
Correia began his career with the district in 1994 as a science teacher at James Madison Morton Middle School. Over the course of nearly three decades, he served in a variety of roles, including principal of Resiliency Preparatory Academy, before retiring in 2021.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to return to Fall River Public Schools and to the Resiliency Preparatory Academy,” said Correia. “I am looking forward to returning to 290 Rock Street and getting back to working with students, families, and staff.”
A Fall River resident, Correia holds a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University and a master’s degree from Cambridge College.
“Rob’s previous administrative experience at RPA and his many years of service to our district make his return particularly meaningful,” said Dr. Smith. “We are thankful he has agreed to step into this interim role and provide strong leadership for RPA. We are pleased to welcome Rob back and appreciate his willingness to support our students, families, and staff during this transition.”
Correia’s return comes at an important time for the 290 Rock Street campus, which is taking on an expanded role within Fall River Public Schools. The building will house three district high school programs: Resiliency Preparatory Academy, Evolve Academy, and the new FRPS Virtual High School.
The leadership transition follows Dr. Stacy Monette’s move from Resiliency Preparatory Academy to become principal of James Madison Morton Middle School.
Fall River Public Schools will continue its search for a permanent principal at RPA as the district works to identify a long-term leader for the academy.
