On Friday, the search for 58-year-old Karen Solomon entered its fourth day, with law enforcement expanding operations around Coes Pond and closing multiple parks in the area.
Solomon is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of her husband, 57-year-old Worcester Police Officer Kurt Solomon, a 31-year veteran of the department. Authorities have identified Karen as a suspect, but she has not been charged, and officials have not publicly disclosed how Kurt died.
The search has now grown into a massive, multi-agency operation.
The Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Team entered Coes Pond Friday, while State Police search teams combed wooded areas near the former supermarket site on Mill Street. Investigators have also focused on surrounding trails, parks and other areas near the pond.
Police previously released surveillance footage appearing to show Karen walking near an animal clinic on Mills Road around 5:41 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after officers responded to the couple’s Wildwood Avenue home for a reported medical emergency.
But there’s another striking layer to this case.
For years, Karen Solomon has been an advocate for the mental health and well-being of police officers and first responders. She co-founded First H.E.L.P., an organization dedicated to first-responder mental health and supporting their families, and has written about law enforcement and the challenges officers face.
Now, she is at the center of a massive search.
As of Friday, Karen Solomon has not been located. Authorities are continuing to investigate what happened inside the Worcester home Tuesday morning and are urging anyone who sees her not to approach her and to contact police.
The search continues.
