New Bedford police arrested a 30-year-old man after a fight Tuesday evening that left one person with a knife injury and another injured by a baseball bat.
Officers responded to the area of Brock Avenue around 6:15 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Police said a fight had broken out, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to one person who was stabbed and another who was struck with a baseball bat.
According to police, the altercation stemmed from an incident Monday in which a man was assaulted at his residence.
The stabbing victim attempted to drive away to seek medical treatment, but police said the vehicle was being operated without a key fob and crashed into a parked vehicle in the area.
Authorities said a vehicle was also taken from the scene.
Police arrested Zachary Silva, 30, of New Bedford. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury.
