Rhode Island State Police had a busy night after arresting three drivers in separate incidents for allegedly traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety, issued a strong warning:
“There is zero tolerance for reckless and dangerous speeding on Rhode Island’s highways. When someone chooses to drive more than 100 miles per hour, they are gambling with lives—not just their own, but those of innocent motorists. Our message is clear: if you drive at these dangerous speeds, expect to be stopped, arrested when appropriate, and held accountable.”
🚔 The arrests included:
• Shaun Shultz, 21, of West Warwick – Stopped on Centerville Road in Warwick after allegedly traveling 113 MPH. Charged with Reckless Driving and Other Offenses Against Public Safety (1st Offense). He was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released with a court date of August 21, 2026.
• Jaden Nasif, 23, of Providence – Arrested on I-95 North in Warwick after allegedly traveling 111 MPH. Charged with Reckless Driving (1st Offense) and Driving After Suspension of License (4th and Subsequent Offense). He was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks and held overnight pending presentment as a probation violator in court on August 3, 2026.
• Cali Storm Machado, 18, of Richmond – Arrested on I-95 South in West Greenwich after allegedly traveling 120 MPH. Charged with Reckless Driving and Other Offenses Against Public Safety (1st Offense). He was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks, arraigned, and released with a court date of August 7, 2026.
⚠️ Driving at these speeds doesn’t just put the driver at risk—it endangers everyone else on the road. State Police say they will continue aggressively enforcing reckless driving laws across Rhode Island.
