RAYNHAM, Mass. — An 18-year-old Brockton man died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Route 44, according to Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 6:15 a.m. to 430 New State Highway (Route 44) for a report of a pedestrian struck. Raynham Fire personnel provided immediate medical care on scene before transporting the victim to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Honda CR-V driven by a 37-year-old Taunton man was traveling westbound on Route 44 when it struck the victim as he crossed the road.
The driver remained at the scene. Brewster Ambulance transported the driver and a passenger to Morton Hospital in Taunton for evaluation.
The crash is under active investigation by the Raynham Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
