🚨 MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL POLICE PURSUIT ENDS IN DIGHTON ARREST 🚨
At approximately 4:00 p.m., Somerset detectives and patrol officers received a report of potential criminal activity at a bank in Somerset.
When officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, the occupants refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit. Due to heavy traffic conditions on Wilbur Avenue, Somerset units made the decision to discontinue the pursuit for safety reasons.
The investigation, however, was far from over.
Detective Cardella continued the investigation into Fall River, where he observed the suspect vehicle pass his unmarked police unit. Once the vehicle entered Route 79, Detective Cardella maintained visual contact while waiting for neighboring marked police units to get into position.
When officers made another attempt to stop the vehicle, the suspects once again refused to stop and fled.
With traffic conditions now more manageable, officers from multiple jurisdictions joined the pursuit. Units worked together across communities as the suspect vehicle continued to flee.
The pursuit ultimately came to an end in Dighton, where Dighton Police units successfully stopped the vehicle.
One male suspect has been placed under arrest. A female suspect remains sought in the area in connection with non-violent offenses. There is currently no known danger to the public.
The Somerset Police Department extends its appreciation to the Fall River, Freetown, Berkley, Massachusetts State Police, and Dighton Police Departments for their assistance and coordination throughout the incident.
