RAYNHAM — A Bridgewater man is facing firearm and drug charges after Raynham Police allegedly recovered a loaded handgun and suspected narcotics during a motor vehicle stop Saturday night.
RYAN O’DAY, 36, of BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of a Class A Drug
- Possession of a Class B Drug
According to the Raynham Police Department, officers were investigating an unrelated incident at a local hotel over the weekend when they received information that O’DAY was allegedly in possession of a 9mm handgun.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Officer Daniel Kelly located a vehicle registered to O’DAY at a gas station on Broadway. After conducting surveillance, officers stopped the vehicle on Route 138 after observing it had a defective license plate light.
During the traffic stop, officers determined that neither the female driver nor O’DAY had a valid driver’s license. Both were detained while the investigation continued.
Police said that when O’DAY exited the vehicle, a crack pipe fell from his lap. A subsequent search allegedly uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun inside a bag in the trunk, along with a holster, drug paraphernalia, and suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.
O’DAY is expected to be arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
